*Bold Heracles* Greek, Archaic – Ionia, Erythrae (ca. 550-500 BC) Electrum Hecte

Greek. Archaic Period. Asia Minor. Ionia, Erythrae EL (Electrum = gold and silver alloy) hecte. Struck ca. 550-500 BC. Perhaps an issue of Heraclea Pontica, Bithynia, as recent scholarship of W. Fischer-Bossert (2020) has argued. Choice XF; a bold head of Heracles in refined Archaic style. Exceptional for the type.

Design: Head of Heracles left in Archaic style, wearing Nemean Lion skin headdress / Quadripartite incuse square
