Greek. Magna Graecia. Early Classical Period. Sicily, Messana AR (Silver) litra. Struck ca. 480-461 BC. XF; superb detail for the issue, which usually comes quite worn and corroded. One of the better known examples of this charming type.

Design: Hare springing right / Ethnic of city (MES) in retrograde
